A Tradition of Serving the Community

Audio Concepts Store in Woonsocket Rhode Island in 1975Audio Concepts was opened in Woonsocket Rhode Island in 1975, but it started as a dream many years before. Founder Don Houde, the son of a World War II Radio Operator and a loving mom, grew up in the world of radio and TV. His father was the well known local TV and radio repairman and in the 50’s and 60’s Don learned the art of service from his Dad. Back then service meant traveling to a client’s home, sitting on the floor, and fixing what needed to be fixed. At the young age of 8 Don found enjoyment in fixing things for his dad and at one point found himself repairing a car radio for none other than Red Sox legend Ted Williams.

After a college degree in engineering, Don wanted to continue to work in the community and in 1975, he and a business partner rented an old Singer Sewing Machine Store in Rhode Island, remodeled and opened as Audio Concepts. The store sold and serviced tvs, stereos, car radio, photography equipment, and also did repairs. A couple of years later the business partnership ended and Don took over as sole proprietor.

In late 1977 a unique building caught Don’s attention in North Attleboro, MA. A former trolley car stop on one side and a train station on the other, Don would make this building the new home for his business and it still stands there today. Audio Concepts continues to adapt its services, technologies, and products to meet the needs of its customers. Audio Concepts is working hard to continue its legacy of earning the position of the Best Home Theater and TV store in the North Attleboro area by continuing to treat customers as they would like to be treated.

Today Audio Concepts has two beautiful showrooms; both have been featured in industry and consumer publications. The addition of the Boston location has created an opportunity to grow and sharpen the business. Strategically adding Stressless Seating, expanding the lighting and shading solutions help to deliver the complete room to the customer.

Audio Concepts still works with some of the same residential customers Don’s dad serviced as well as sports icons and major fortune 500 companies. In this new era, Audio Concepts has opened a brand new showroom in Boston and has acquired the areas most successful and professional integration business. Incorporating this highly skilled and talented group of individuals into the company has strengthened the business and given Audio Concepts the ability to grow and build toward the future.
